The outer solar system has four giant planets
I was just reading this book about the gas giants. The gas giants are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Beyond the terrestrial planets in the inner solar system, is the outer solar system. The gas giants are located in the outer solar system. They’re mainly made up of helium, hydrogen, and other gases. The gas giants are the biggest planets in our solar system. They are much bigger than the terrestrial planets. So that’s why there called gas giants. The asteroid belt made up of ice and rock, separates the inner solar system and outer solar system.
Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system has 61 moons and 4 moons bigger than Pluto. Jupiter has a spot called the Great Red Spot. The Great Red Spot is Jupiter’s largest storm and is twice as big as the Earth. Its mass is 318 Earth masses. Its diameter is 11 Earth diameters. Its average distance from the Sun is 5.2 Au’s. It revolves around the Sun in 12 years. It does a full turn in 9.9 hours.
Saturn has large rings. Saturn is a little smaller than Jupiter, but is the second biggest planet. Saturn rings are made up of ice and rock that orbits around its equator. Saturn’s rings help us till the planet’s seasons. It almost takes Saturn 30 years to revolve the Sun. Its mass is 95 Earth masses. Its diameter is 9 Earth diameters. It’s 9.5 Au’s from the sun. It revolves around the Sun in 29 Earth years. It does a full turn in 11 hours.
In Uranus, it is really cold, since it doesn’t get so much sunlight, because it is too far. Uranus distance from the Sun is about twice as Saturn’s. Uranus is the only planet in our solar system that spins in an unusual angle. It takes 84 Earth years, for Uranus to revolve around the Sun. It takes Uranus 17 hours, for it to do a full turn. Its average distance from the sun is 19 Au’s. Uranus mass is 15 Earth masses. Uranus diameter is 4 Earth diameters.
Neptune is extremely cold like Uranus. Neptune has a Spot like Jupiter, called the Great Dark Spot. Unlike Jupiter’s Great Red Spot, the Great Dark Spot moves towards Neptune’s equator. Neptune’s mass is 17 Earth masses. Its diameter is 4 Earth diameters. Its average distance from the Sun is 30 Au’s. It revolves around the Sun in 164 Earth years. Neptune does a full turn in 16 hours.
Well, now you just learned about the gas giants and what there made up of. Now go and share it with others, so then they will know and share it with there friends or relatives.
